On November 8th we hosted a pretty epic holiday entertaining workshop with our friends at IKEA Etobicoke. During the workshop we shared a few entertaining tips and tricks -You know, so this year you don't lash out at your significant other when you get a text from one of your guests saying they're around the corner, you still need to set the place settings, your trying to curl your hair, and you keep forgetting to make the gravy. Not this year my friends! The lovely guests who attended this workshop enjoyed not only our holiday entertaining hacks, but cocktails, vino, hors d'oeuvres a three course meal and gifts to take home - All that for only $40 a ticket!!
Here are a few of the gorgeous photos taken by our good friend Jenn from Hello Inspira . We can't tell you all the entertaining secrets we covered in the event, but what we can do is share a few of our delicious cocktail mixes and food recipes. We also had a bit of help from our friends at Bottega who sent us a few of their product to get creative with! Keep on reading for some holiday magic - Enjoy these gorgeous decor shots for some holiday decorating inspo with IKEA's lovely decorations and products and a few shots of our awesome guests who we had so much fun with!

Holiday Drink Recipes

GRAPPA CRANBERRY & ORANGE BUBBLES

-- What you need --
- Bottega Grappa
- Bottega Rose Sparkling
- Frozen Cranberries
- Orange Slices
- IKEA Apple and Lingonberry sparkling drink

-- How to --

Grappa has a tendency to taste like, gasoline. Unless you're a big grappa fan we came up with a recipe that makes grappa taste really really lovely! And this Bottega bottle is absolutely beautiful.

First - Fill a large pitcher halfway with grappa and fill the rest of the pitcher with the frozen cranberries and oranges. Let that steep all day in the fridge. When you're ready to serve, grab a champagne flute and fill a third of the glass with your grappa mixture. Then add another dash of IKEA's Apple and Lingonberry drink and fill the rest of the glass up with Bottegga Rose to add some bubbles. To garnish - Add a few of those beautiful cranberries and orange bits to the glass to sit at the bottom. GORGEOUS!

MULLED WINE

Pull out your crockpot ladies and gents!

-- What you need --
- IKEA mulled drink
- Bottega bottle of red
- Spiced Rum or Brandy
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Star Anise
- Cloves
- Whole Nutmeg
-Orange Peel

Easy peasy, add all these lovely ingrediants into your crock pot and let everything mull on low for a few hours. Why a few hours? #1. So you can get all those amazing flavours in the mix, and #2. So your house smells like Christmas when everyone arrives.

Personally I like to leave the spiced rum to the end and add a dash into each glass after I add in the mulled wine mix. Gives it a nice little kick!

ELDERFLOWER GIN COCKTAIL

-- What you need --

- IKEA Elderflower concentrate
- Bottega Gin
- Bottega Prosecco
- Cinnamon Stick (garnish)
- Sprig of fresh rosemary (garnish)

-- How to --

Hours before your guests arrive grab a small pitcher and fill a third of the glass with Bottega gin. Fill the next two thirds with IKEA Elderflower concentrate and then add a quick dash of water. Now your mix is ready for when guests arrive.

When you're ready to serve, grab a glass and fill half the glass with your gin mixture, then top the rest with Bottega prosecco. Add your garnish and enjoy!!

Homemade Bread Recipe

Making homemade bread for guests to enjoy with dinner basically makes you an automatic entertaining bad ass. Trust me, there's nothing people love more than fresh bread. Use this EXTREMELY easy bread recipe I use almost weekly. When you get really good at making these, you can start having some fun by adding things like olives, caramelized onions and cranberries - The world is your oyster with this recipe, have fun because it will always taste great!

Ingredients
 • 4 cups (1 litre) all-purpose flour
 • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sugar
 • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
 • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) instant dry yeast or 1 package
 • 1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons (405 ml) warm water, approximately
Preparation
 1. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Make a well in the centre. Add the water, stir with a wooden spoon and then form into a ball with your hands. Knead for 5 to 10 minutes.
 2. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean cloth. Let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes. Remove from the bowl and knead for about 30 seconds.
 3. Shape the dough into a roll and place into a 20 x 10-cm (8 x 4-inch) buttered loaf pan. Cover with a cloth and let rise again in a warm place for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
 4. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Bake in the lowest position of the oven for about 25 minutes.

<![CDATA[Laura & Dan's bright, white and rustic wedding at Holland Marsh Winery]]>Mon, 19 Jun 2017 18:38:15 GMThttp://inspireeventrental.com/2/post/2017/06/laura-dans-bright-white-and-rustic-wedding-at-holland-marsh-winery.htmlOkay, so these. two. I know I may say this about every couple, but I actually get excited about how cool our clients are and can't help but brag!

Laura & Dan were SO fun to work with. Both the most cheerful, cheeky, laid back, and incredibly fit (yes fit) two people and I feel so lucky to have been able to be apart of their special day. Laura & Dan hired us for Event & Floral Design, as well as Day-of Coordination. Obviously I was thrilled about the blank canvas they booked as their venue - Holland Marsh Winery, and we were going all out in...white! White florals, white linens, white chairs, etc. and we couldn't have been happier looking back on our everything turned out.

Now I'm posting this about a year later, and super excited that these beauts are having a baby very soon! From the girls at Inspire, congrats guys! ... we also expect baby visits.

<![CDATA[Making the morning of your wedding ultra glamorous and stress free]]>Fri, 26 May 2017 04:04:40 GMThttp://inspireeventrental.com/2/post/2017/05/making-the-morning-of-your-wedding-ultra-glamorous-and-stress-free.html1. Find a team of vendors you trust with the day - Your make-up artist, hair stylist, photographer, videographer, even your decorator. Finding a team of vendors that are great at what they do and also work great together will make the world of a difference when it comes down to the day of your wedding. If you find an awesome team, you’ll avoid feeling like you have to micromanage or check in on progress. Hiring a team of vendors that you trust will also keep you on time and worry free because basically, these people are prepared for anything. Just remember - In a wedding, event, any production, things go wrong or plans change. It’s how you deal with it is what determines how your special day will turn out in the end. If you put your trust in your vendors and know that if any issues arise, they know exactly what to do and how to fix any situations. Basically, let the pros deal with everything and make sure you focus on having a great time.
2. Make your morning luxurious, it’s your special day, why wouldn’t you!?
- Go for an early morning yoga class, have a spa morning, sleep in… do whatever. you. want. It’s your day and the way you begin it will determine how the rest of the day will go. Relax, try not to let nerves take over, there really isn’t anything to be nervous about! Take the morning slow, and incorporate the next few tips for a luxurious, care free morning. Also, splurge on a hotel or somewhere special to wake up and start getting ready for your big day. Sure, you may be saving money getting ready at your home, but it won’t feel special, or relaxing. You’ll be surrounded by reminders of work, house duties, errands etc. so take our advice and set-up a luxe morning for you to enjoy. You’ll be so happy you did.
3. Look cute, from the moment you rise! - Okay, maybe you need a few minutes to brush your fangs and shower, but after that slip into something you feel beautiful in, like By Catalfo’s collection of robes. Sarah is a robe design genius, she created a beautiful collection of robes in complimentary styles and colours for you and all your girls to wear while they get ready. Keep in mind you’ll be getting photos back from your photographer and there will be quite a few shots of the morning. The worst is looking back at the photos and wishing you had brushed your hair, or worn something cute. You’ll feel so chill, beautiful and luxurious rocking your Catalfo robes and looking cute with the rest of your crew.

4. Make sexy snacks and beverages - Mimosas are so yesterday. Create something beautiful and tasty, like these three drink recipes.

Grapefruit Mimosa - Skip the OJ and use grapefruit juice instead. It’s better for you, has less sugar and tastes unreal.

- Fill half the glass with grapefruit juice
- Top up with Bottega Prosecco
- Add beautiful fruit garnishes

Don’t just buy fruit platters from the grocery store and put them out. Have your friends and family skewer berries, or cut grapefruit to add on a beautiful platter with cane sugar. You’re treating yourself today with beautiful details which include your morning of food and bevies. You and your friends will enjoy sipping pretty drinks, snacking on pretty food, and feeling pretty, now how lovely does that sound?
Hibiscus Bubbles - You can get beautiful jarred hibiscus from home and gift stores like Simply Beautiful. When bubbles are poured over, these beauties open up and look absolutely stunning. They also taste amazing!!

- Drop a hibiscus into the champagne glass
- Top up with Bottega Prosecco
Pommy Prosecco - Take a pomegranate and use those beautiful seeds and juice to create a gorgeous and tasty drink.
- Fill champagne glass halfway with seeds and juice
- Top up with Bottega Prosecco
5. Remember your crew - These chicks are at your wedding and in your bridal party because they mean so much to you. Have FUN with them and don’t micromanage. Sure you may be a little nervous, maybe even a little stressed, but try your best not to take it out on those around you. Have the best morning of preparation and fun, relaxing while you’re all getting beautified, that way you can look back on your special day and recall how you spent it with your closest and most meaning relationships.

<![CDATA[Throwing a kids birthday party adults can enjoy too!]]>Mon, 22 May 2017 19:12:08 GMThttp://inspireeventrental.com/2/post/2017/05/throwing-a-kids-birthday-party-adults-can-enjoy-too.htmlMake it classy
Kids parties don’t need to be all plastic plates and cartoon characters. Design a party that you’re proud of and let your kids feel fancy! Add a charger plate, print a name tag, throw in a centrepiece, they’ll absolutely love it. You’re creating a little experience you all can enjoy together. If you’re not the creative type, then hire companies like @inspireeventrental who bring in everything you need, from decor, name tags, plates and cutlery and then clean up the mess when you’re done!
Invite the adults too
Kids remember fun events that they had with their parents. When you have a little dinner party, or lunch, brunch or tea party both kids and adults can enjoy themselves, especially if friends and family are around.
Make fancy drinks
Kids love colourful drinks with crazy garnishes, have a cheers and enjoy. Oh! and a little bubbly to the adult drinks for some added fun.
Plan a series of activities to keep kids interested
Cupcake decorating, mommy and me mani’s and pedi’s, but our personal favourite is a reveal cake. Refrain from cutting the cake until the end of the party, but create anticipation for what’s inside. Find innovative companies like @withlovefromThuyandThi who will not only colour the inside of the cake, but add hidden surprises like gum balls or jelly beans. How much more exciting is it to cut into this mystery cake and have candy tumble out!?
Hire a photographer
Even just for an hour to shoot the details you worked so hard on and to get the kids’ (and even the adults’ ) reactions to all the excitement displayed on the table! Sure, without a photographer you’ll have phone photos of your guests, but you should be part of the action too! You’ll be thankful you did, especially when you see all the great shots, like these ones from @helloinspira.
